A lovely woman named Eleanor who is a visiting professor in my department this year commissioned me to make a messenger bag for her sister-in-law, who is a kindergarten teacher who loves color. Eleanor and her hubby came over to my studio to pick out colors…I usually use 3 different colors for the messenger, but they really loved the chartreuse…I had 2 slightly different shades of the chartreuse, so they asked for the brighter for the flap and the slightly darker as the main body color, and left the rest up to me.
When I thought about the recipient of this bag being a kindergarten teacher, I knew right away I wanted to have a teacher bird with lots of student birds flying towards her:
This bag is filled with pockets, with phone pockets on each side, a magazine pocket on the back:
two more pockets under the flap, one of which holds a bird zip wallet as well:
Inside there’s a zip pocket, and a divided pocket with 2 wallet/sunglass size pockets and 2 pen slips.
When Eleanor picked the bag up, she really liked it…perhaps her sister-in-law will get something else for her birthday! 😉

That is gorgeous. I love the stitching detail on the birds.
A satisfied customer and a gorgeous bag – what more could you want?
Candi,
Gorgeous bag, hope someday you will sell the pattern.
Thanks – and you’re in luck, because I already do, and it’s on sale!

the colors and form are amazing… as always… and what I love most of all is the scene that you envisioned and created on it with the birds. you’ve outdone yourself with this one! 🙂
