I am always on the lookout for vintage linen napkins, (also my friend Liz, who loves a good yard sale, will find them for me too, hooray!), they usually dye up most deliciously! With 19 people coming on Thursday, I didn’t have enough hand dyed napkins to go all the way around, plus the hand dyed napkins I do have are a gradation from yellow to blue. So! Time to rummage through my napkin supply and see what I could come up with so I could dye them in my Autumn Splendor color palette. First, I found this large table scarf:
I then had 6 fringed napkins:
6 in a damask pattern woven with 2 different types of threads that take the dye differently:
and 6 with a woven pattern:
I was actually amazed at how close I was able to come in creating 3 different sets of 6 napkins that were the same pattern and size! I can’t WAIT to use them on the table on Thursday…but first, I’ve got PIE to bake!
