Woot!
Prep for Thanksgiving has begun in earnest! We’ll have a good 15 or so people here for dinner tomorrow, with another 30 (!) coming for the Festival of Pie later in the day! So, today is all about pie baking! I started by gathering all my tried and true recipes together, I am extra nerdy, so I made a PDF of all of themto share with folks, download it right here: Candys favorite pie recipes
Of course, we had to start with a big list, we did this the other day in the car:
Appetizers
- Pickles
- Olives
- Crudités, (carrot celery cherry tomatoes)
- Ranch, regular and chipotle
Dinner
- Acorn Squash Ravioli with pine nuts, sage and brown butter sauce
- Turkey
- Dressing (Hawaiian bread with apples, sausage & sage)
- Mashed potatoes
- Gravy
- 2 kinds of Cranberry sauce: Mario Batali & Standard from the back of the bag
- Brussel Sprouts w/pancetta, dried cranberries, balsamic vinegar
- Smitten Kitchen Sweet Potato Crispy Sweet Potato Roast
- Peas & Pearl Onions
- Roasted beets with goat cheese

- Cherry
- Mincemeat
- Sweet potato pecan
- Pumpkin (2)
- Sugar Cream
- Derby
- Meyer Lemon Brulee Tart
- Cranberry with Thick Pecan Crumble (Smitten Kitchen Recipe here)
The first step to the baking of the pies is figuring out which pie goes in which pan:
If you want to follow along with me as I bake them all today, take a peek at my Instagram feed. I’ll be back later in the week with a full report on the Festival of Pie. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!
