Getting ready for our big reno project, I had to get me studio closet under control. As I dye more and more fabric, I need more places to store it! I don’t do lots of dyeing “just for the heck of it”, but with a particular palette or function (for one of my dyeing classes). Hubby built my “Ultimate Storage Cart” a couple of years ago:
to hold a certain size of Sterilite covered plastic box, so I’ve purchased more of these. I place a certain group of fabric into each box, label it, and put the ones I’m using the most in the cart. The extra boxes helped me eliminate PILES, which are the bane of my existence, but I needed more space to put them! So, I’ve taken over the linen closet in the hall between my bedroom and the studio! The ousted linens and blankets were placed in the bedrooms – in the upper shelves in the closets and the blanket chest in my bedroom.
Here’s the annexed linen closet:
And the closet in my studio has NEVER been this neat! Yahoo!
I’ve blogged about my studio before, and I’m sure I will again. I find that if things get too chaotic in there, I start to lose my making mojo. I love being able to FIND what I’m looking for without a lot of stress! 🙂

Looks great! I’m a piler too and once I get too many piles, it’s time for a cleanup! You inspire me with your organization- I need to work on that 🙂
I do have a dyeing question- do I need to prewash my PFD fabric? Thanks!
Looking good. I, too, prefer to be able to find the things I want to use!
Oh wow these pictures make me happy! I’m the exact opposite– a total mess before I move to a new condo, but hopefully I’ll be this organized again soon 😉
