Create Handmade Gifts for All Blog Hop day 9

Hooray, today is the last day of the blog hop for my new E-Book “Create Handmade Gifts for All“:

Handmade-Gifts-Cover

I’m so lucky to have so many talented friends, most of whom I’ve only met through the internet, to share a bit of what’s inside this e-book! I hope you found them interesting as well!

I’m quite happy to see so many of my designs in one place! To get a closer look at any of them, take a look at this Flickr album.

Giveaways!

Each stop on my blog hop is holding a giveaway. Each woman will draw 2 names (see the dates of when each giveaway closes in the list below) and send them to me. The first person they draw will receive a hard copy of last year’s Quilting Arts Gifts 2013/14:

QAGifts-cover-13

The second name will be included in the grand prize drawing!  I’ll draw 2 names myself, one to win the magazine and the second is also thrown in the hat for the grand prize, which is……..

The messenger bag I made for the pattern that’s on the cover!

For-the-birds-messenger-bag-photo-shoot-18

Yep, it’s a beautiful bag, made from cotton duck that I hand dyed so it’s incredibly sturdy. When I make something especially for a magazine article, I usually hold onto it because it’s special to me. But as my number of magazine articles grow and grow, I’ve decided that it’s time to put some of those items out for use in my own home, or give it away, rather than sell it, so that I can tell the recipient the history of that particular piece.

So you can comment on any of these posts, for a total of 9 entries!

  • Monday, 9/8 – Susan Brubaker Knapp of Blue Moon River – closes 6 p.m. EST on Monday, Sept. 22

  4. Your colour palettes are inspirational and your patterns are so detailed and clear. The Christmas row houses jump out as a great “selfie” gift and the organising baskets for a few friends who have everything.

  5. I am thinking that I might make zippered pouches using the fabrics that I hand dyed while taking a couple of your online dye classes. I am getting a nice stash, and I try to use it in a variety of projects. I REALLY need to win that messenger bag!

  6. Hi Candy! Cool giveaways! Love your style!!! I will probably be making something for my granddaughter who is away at college. But I also loved your mantle houses cause they look so good lit up from behind. I loved so many of your projects, it will be hard picking one to start!

  7. I’ll definitely be making lots of gifts for Christmas giving and baby showers in the next couple of months!

  8. Working full-time, I seem to have little time for making. I don’t know how do it, teaching, creating, all the stuff you do. Yes, I plan on creating gifts, your ebook would be lovely to help me there. (But I seriously covet the bag you made. That would be very cool to win.) Next course for you to offer…time management!

  9. I am planning to make some fabric covered boxes. Your book has got some great ideas in, I love them all and your bag I would really really like as it is awesome.

  10. Ooooh! this blog Tour has been such fun!! Everyone made Awesome projects! Your Purse, and Book are both Amazing!

I always make new Jammie’s for the Kiddo’s at Christmas…and have a few Grankiddo’s added now too! 🙂 Have already started on the Kiddo’s… Grans grow too fast to start them early! giggle Am working on two different hand-appliqued Wall Hanhgs for Christmas gifts too.

  11. What a wonderful book you’ve put together, I envy your talent! I am so pleased that I found you and so many other wonderful bloggers on this Bloghop. I’ve just completed and given away my very first lap quilt and plan on getting some more done before Christmas 🙂

  12. I love your colourful work and free-motion doodles. I’ve been making placemats and lap quilts for my local quilt guild. Seeing your work has inspired me to make some tablet covers for some gift giving this year. Thanks for the chance to win.

  13. Well, there are still a few quilts on my to-do list… Guess I need some smaller and faster-to-make items or I won’t make it. Thanks so much – your colorful projects are beautiful!

  14. Thank you! For an awesome blog hop. For a great giveaway. For SO many ideas and SO much inspiration! I love your birds and those stockings are just way too cute! And thank you for a chance to win that fantastic messenger bag (your hand dye work is just fabulous!). Quilting Arts Gifts is packed with fun stuff! I will be making a lot more gifts than I was originally planning….. 🙂

  15. I have a stocking for my baby grand-daughter on the go, and a quilt for my daughter (her mother). I also want to do some personalized ornaments, but not too sure if I’ll get the time to finish those.

  16. Hi. Love the autumnal colours of your messenger bag. Going to make a small quilt with my daughter – a great way to spend time together – and some comfy Jammie’s. Best wishes. LR

  17. Your messengar bag is amazing! Love your projects and my fingers are crossed, hehe. I plan in making some zippered pouches and a few tablerunners this holiday season. Both are fairly quick to make and so easy to customize with specific fabrics.

Thank you for a super giveaway and a chance to win.

  18. I have 3 quilts in process as we speak! Two will go to coworkers that are retiring, and one to an ill friend.

  19. I love your plan to give away items along with the stories that helped create them. Much more meaningful. I’ve gotten many ideas from your compendium! I plan to take a lot of started-but-not-finished and leftover quilted/dyed/manipulated bits and see what speaks to me. Little purses, big bags, wall quilts, slippers, journal covers….? All possibilities that I’ll combine and tie together, probably with hand-dyed or over-dyed fabrics. Promised myself I’d start with the widows and orphans, so most of my gifts will have a past history and a present creative process. THEN the embellishment magic starts! Thanks for asking–and for the drawing. This is my first blog hop and a lot of fun. –Laura

  20. I’ll be making Santa and snowman ornaments to give to everyone in my family for Christmas. Your messenger bag is gorgeous!

  21. Every year I give home made gifts. Totes, table runners , ornaments etc. It is a joy to give things that I have made.

  22. My son wants a t-shirt quilt, so that will probably be the next “big” gift. I find myself making Santa towels and smaller items I can finish quickly for friends. It looks like the book will have to become part of my “idea generators” collection.

  23. I’m going to make a scarf for my grandfather. I’m nervous to do so because he LOVED the last one and it became his favorite, special-occasions only scarf, and I feel like I need to live up to that.

  24. I don’t know what I will be making yet but you have certainly inspired me to get busy and choose some! Love your colorful and fun designs!

  25. I am in the process of making charity quilts for the Santa Train, and wounded service men and women. I am also making small embroidery projects as Christmas gifts for family and friends. Thank you for the chance to win. I am always looking for new ideas.

  32. Your bag is just adorable! I have a weakness for sweet birds in fabric or sewn on projects. This is just perfect for me! My plans for the holiday gifts are to make friends each a personalized mug rug made in their favorite colors. I also need to make a few table runners for family members! It’s all fun!
