As a fabric dyer who can dye anything she wants, I found that this prospect of endless possibility can stymie me. For me, the answer to this has been to choose a palette of colors, and really spend my time working with them in different pieces that I make. For the past couple of years, a lot of my work has been done using my Jewel Tones palette:

Last Fall I started working on a new palette I’m calling Autumn Splendor. These are complex colors, all dyed with different amounts of all 3 primary colors, and they resonate very strongly with me!

This Spring I had a hankering for some pinks and greens – not pastel, not neon, but somewhere in between:

What better way to share my love of color than to give one lucky commenter set of fat quarters in the palette of their choice, along with a piece of multi-color fabric in those same hues?

When does it close?

Commenting will be open until May 10 at 5 p.m. PST. I will use good old Random.org to choose a random # and email the winner by May 12, and ship out the fabric the following week!

  105. My first choice would be the jewel tones. I’ve done a lot of fabric dyeing and it’s so hard to get those intense colors! Especially the red – very impressive!

  166. Oh my god! I a so glad I found this blog! There is nothing like hand dyed fabrics. The color, depth and fascinating textures! My daughter does this in her fibers class! She has given me a beautiful stack of hand dyed fabric, but I cannot bring myself to cut the up…yet! I signed up for your newsletter.
