Dyeing 104: Multicolor Silk has Launched!

This class is packed with details! In just the first 4 sessions there are over 6 hours of videoand 69 pages of downloadable PDF’s, along with some helpful excel spreadsheets. Once we’ve covered the ins and outs of silk fabric weave and weight, along with how the dyeing process works, I use dyeing tints to explain the concept of DOS/OWG:

After covering the basics of dyeing, we dye color wheels which will allow you to expand your knowledge of color theory, and stretch your understanding of color influence. I then teach you 7 completely different LWI techniques that span the gamut of control over the outcome; from lots of control over where the colors lay down and mingle to hardly any control at all.

Because there is a wide range of weights found in silk, I will be dyeing 3 different examples of each and every color palette: a light, airy 5 mm Habotai scarf, smooth and shiny 12mm Charmeuse yardage, and a luxuriously elegant 19mm Charmeuse scarf. That way, we can all see how the weight of the silk affects the final outcome!

Once I’ve taught you the multicolor dyeing techniques, it’s on to the palettes!  The remainder of the class is 6 more sessions, each one exploring relationships of hues around the color wheel: Monochromatic, Analagous, Complementary, Split Complementary, Triadic and Rainbow. We’ll explore that all these relationships mean and dyed multi color silk based on these relationships. I’ll share my “secret recipes” of my favorite multi color palettes, and I’ll also be exploring new combinations right along with you!
